Introduction

Many of my patients have enquired about remedial therapy for arthritis, so today, I will answer their queries. Hi, Dr. Yu again, and today I am going to shed some light upon a much-discussed topic and, i.e., arthritis. Are you gulping a lot of pain killers and other pills to get rid of gout? Are you feeling like you cannot imagine a painless life without taking those pills?

Well, then you have no idea how you are damaging your body and poisoning it slowly. Yes, you read it right. All these anti-pain pills have a fatal side effect on your system. So stop taking them and try an alternative treatment that is Turmeric. But before diving deep into the topic first, you need to understand what arthritis is.

What is Arthritis?

Arthritis is a lasting autoimmune health condition that causes inflammation, stiffness, and pain in the joints. “Arthritis” is not a single ailment; it is a way of referring to joint disease and pain. There are more than 100 different sorts of arthritis and arthritis-related conditions. People of all ages and races can be affected and suffer from arthritis.

Common arthritis symptoms include pain, stiffness, swelling, and reduced range of motion. These symptoms can be fluctuating. Severe arthritis can cause chronic pain, incapability to do regular everyday activities.

Inflammatory arthritis is considered damaging and is not related to healthy reaction-oriented inflammation that usually happens in case of wounds or contaminations. This sort of inflammation causes harm in the affected joints and can trigger stiffness, pain, and swelling. Inflammatory arthritis can damage the surface of the joints and also the bone.

Although arthritis is linked with inflammation and pain, the precise cause of arthritis remains undefined, and there is no cure for its fundamental sources. The main objective of arthritis treatment is to decrease joint pain triggered by inflammation in the joints

Why Use Turmeric for Arthritis?

Turmeric, formally known as Curcuma longa, is a flowering herb of the ginger family. It is native to India and Southeast Asia. Turmeric is being used as a medicinal ingredient for thousands of years and always been a part of natural therapies in Asian countries. It contains curcumin that is known for its anti-inflammatory properties.

Curcumin is the main active component in turmeric powder and supplements. Curcumin is an effective antioxidant with substantial anti-inflammatory properties, and specific studies have suggested it may be just as effective as aspirin, diclofenac, and ibuprofen in terms of treating inflammation from rheumatoid arthritis and other joint conditions.

Most turmeric capsules retailed as health supplements comprise at least one gram of curcumin, and this amount is suggested for maximum anti-inflammatory benefits. Most turmeric supplements with curcumin also include piperine, a compound found in black pepper. Out blood stem cannot absorb the curcumin, and piperine enhances the body’s curcumin absorption.

Curcumin fights inflammation by obstructing the NF-kB particle. This molecule triggers the inflammation genes and can travel throughout our cells. NF-kB is alleged to play a chief role in the expansion of many chronic diseases.

In clinical researches, Turmeric’s anti-inflammatory action seems to help improve rheumatoid arthritis condition, Crohn’s disease, post-operative inflammation, ulcerative colitis, stomach ulcers, and irritable bowel syndrome.

One animal study on rheumatoid arthritis found that Turmeric possess considerably more anti-inflammatory and antioxidant power than many potent pain-killers. Turmeric has natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that may relieve symptoms of arthritis. And there is no chance to get addicted to Turmeric.

Why Should One Avoid Pain Killers?

The most common pain-killers are the ones that can be bought in a store without a prescription. These medicines include Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen, and naproxen. People usually take these meds for mild pains without even knowing about their side-effects.

Here are some common side-effects of Pain-Killers You take

  • Aspirins can relieve pain, but they can also cause your stomach to bleed if taken for a long time. Aspirin is one of the NSAID or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that can damage your kidney.
  • Too much Acetaminophen causes liver damage.
  • Ibuprofen is also an NSAID like Aspirin, so it also causes the same issues.

Summary

Joint and back pain caused due to arthritis is a persisting issue that cannot be fixed overnight. If you are just started taking Turmeric, then give your body some time. Natural therapies usually take a bit of time to heal any health issue. But they treat the problem from its core rather than providing temporary relief.
